The Engagement Album of May Kaye & Jamie
I can still distinctly remember meeting May Kaye in April, through my cousin Eu Cheng. It was an early Saturday morning and the 3 of us were having a coffee at Dome in KL. She had just gotten engaged to an Australian guy named Jamie who was living out in Perth, and they had just begun their wedding planning. We were talking about their pre-wedding photos, and going over various concepts and locations. She wanted an outdoor shoot and loved water, because she was into diving. Maybe something at the beach, because it fit her bright and cheerful personality. So I thought, just out of the blue, without thinking there was any chance of it happening, that maybe, just maybe, she might be interested in doing a trash-the-dress shoot. "What's that???", I remember her asking. I explained that some couples would jump off a pier or or a cliff and into the ocean, and trash their wedding dress in the process - but this made for some really epic action-style wedding photos. She blinked as the thought processed in her head. "YES! We'll do it! Trash the dress!", she exclaimed.
And with that decided, we talked about Jamie, and what he was like. Surfer looking guy. Blonde hair and blue eyes. Super nice guy. Really funny. And he probably wouldn't enjoy posing for photos. I told her I couldn't wait to meet him, and unfortunately we didn't have a chance to meet until our shoot. Turns out she was right about everything, except for the fact that Jamie turned out to be fantastic in front of the camera. I suppose it wasn't too hard for them to take photos together, because May Kaye and Jamie just loved being around each other and you could just see the love and emotion in their photos. We enjoyed every moment hanging out with them, and it was a blast taking photos at the beach. Much thanks to Jade and Eu Cheng for providing your photographic expertise and giving us 3 angles to shoot with, and to May Kaye and Jamie for giving us the opportunity to be their wedding photographers and trusting us with their special day. And of course to the awesome groomsman Mario who was there to photo bomb a couple shots and save our camera gear from the quickly rising high tide!
So our shoot began with some fun shots at the beach..
We then proceeded to the amazing jump-off point where the trash-the-dress festivities were going down…
And there's no better way to celebrate than with a little beverage to top it all off, Aussie style! Congrats May Kaye and Jamie!!
Wedding photos to follow soon…:)
